Catching up on April...

We celebrated Mom's birthday at Bryan and Jenyse's house...
The kids formed a band, full of fairy wings, princess dresses, magic wand microphones, drums, horns and other various noise makers.

It was quite the sight (and sound)...

I made a chalkboard wall in our downstairs.  I thought it would be fun for the kids to play school or whatever with.  The right side of it is magnetic, also.  I wish I would have sanded off the texture first.  That way the chalk would write smoother.

This is how it turned out....
the kids love it!!!

Mom treated to a pedicure in April....what a treat!!!!

This is how Meghan rolls...

We were going to one of her brother's baseball games...
She's equipped with a book, her purse and a Gaterade!!!

Went to the Junk Jubilee at the fair grounds with Mollie and Julie...
the girls were less than enthused!!!

Chase brought this home from the neighbors...uh oh!!!!
It looked like someone had a feather pillow fight in our front yard!!!
The chicken actually lived...the dog - barely!!!

Cow Whisperer informed me that he will NOT be referred to as the "chicken whisperer"!!!
For those of you who might not know...I have been bugging him about getting chickens for a couple of years now.  It has really become a joke...to him...NOT ME!!!  I am serious!!!

The bad news is I have Meghan on my side!!!  Hee Hee!!!
I don't think he will be able to withstand her pleads!!!

I will say, however, this episode did not bode in my favor!!!

Our extremely understanding neighbors sent us home with 2 dozen beautiful brown eggs!!!
They are so sweet!!!

These girls think it is a blast to dress alike...Oh the fun of elementary school and good friends!!!

The kids and I planted A WHOLE BUNCH of potatoes one Wednesday evening...used muscles I haven't used in a very long time!!!

Meghan picked some violets for her momma...

EASTER!!!  Dressing up, wonderful church program, Nana's house for dinner and an Easter egg hunt with the cousins...it was a great day!!!
Celebrating our Risen Lord!!!

Left to right:  Meghan, Beth, Ella, Calyn, Drew, Aiden, Abbie

And the hunt is on....

Bike a thon at the school....the three kids and I all rode 5 miles...It was a beautiful day!!!!

Aunt GG celebrated her 90th birthday.  Alan, Jane, Jory and I all took her
to the Greenbriar for a lovely dinner.
(Pardon the terrible photo...I was using my iPhone and it was very dark in there)

Aiden playing baseball with the Marlins...he's having a great time!!!

I came home from work one evening completely unprepared to see my pantry dimantled and all.over.the.kitchen!!!!  My dear husband dug right in to our pantry redo and it really came together quite quickly, after a little paint and some new shelves.  It is much easier to see what I have now...no more 5 bottles of ketchup or four boxes of spaghetti.
The kids can get to their lunch supplies easily!!!

One row for chili supplies, one row for soups, one row for, well, you get the drift!!  Unbelievable transformation of my everyday life with just this one project!!  Morning routine, grocery shopping, making dinner, etc....THANKS CW!!!  I love you bunches!!!!

The girls got their hair cut...and I mean cut...we did a little of bit of layers and little bit of bangs...
Thanks Abby O. at Hair MD in Indianola!!!!

I apologize now for the mediocre photos, but if I tried to take the perfect picture and edit it in the perfect fashion and then try to blog it....I would NEVER get this done...

The priority is documenting life and sharing it...but most of all remembering it....

Next post.....MAY!!!!

I'm back....with a March summary...

March was a busy month...looking back at these photos, I remember that the weather was quite variable....snow, flip flops, and sidewalk chalk all in the same month...

only in Iowa!!!!

Meghan lost her front teeth

and was absolutely adorable!!!

I took all the photos I could!!!

The girls set up a "store" downstairs

oh my!!!

Quite ingenious!!!

Spirit days at school included

mismatch/crazy day

Dress up day

Disney character day

Here goes the side walk chalk...Meghan was so proud of her creation!!!!

  A little flip flop action!!!

Someone's 9th birthday!!!!  He's quite the young man!!!!

Flowers from friends and family...such a burst of spring!!!!

A fun "do it yourself" pizza meal courtesy of another friend!!!  What fun!!

Jory and I hit a big deer with my truck....big ouchie!!!  It did not happen at a very convenient time, but fortunately we weren't hurt.  The deer on the other hand...she'd seen better days!!!

March is prime calving time at our house...this little girl plopped out in a muddy, wet ditch...

so the Cow Whisperer brought her into the shop to get warmed up.  Chase helped, too!!

And so did these three...

Well, the time had come to reunite the little one with her mother, but not before Miss Meghan
got awfully attached to her.

The kids and I drover her down to the feed lot...

I think she was a bit shy
and maybe nervous?!?!

I can't imagine why!!!

Here's where we get to watch the Cow Whisperer (CW) at his best!!!

In the aptly named "Hunderossa Corral"

Yes, folks, thats afterbirth...

cold afterbirth...

CW so thoughtfully saved it, thinking he might just be able to put it to good use in a few hours?!?!
Oh my!!!

Sniff, sniff...I think ol' 781 is remembering she was missing something...

atta girl!!!!

Meghan was most distraught because 781 kept lunging at her and snorting...
as we were leaving the corral, Meghan was crying
"Bye, Rose, see you soon..."

Who knew she named it?

Looking for a new paint color in our downstairs...

Thinking I'm going with Behr Burnished Metal...
(don't tell anyone, but today is May 29th and this part of the wall STILL looks this way!)

Oh, and last but not least....
I drove CW's truck for a few weeks while mine was getting repaired...
Meghan happened to find some electrical tape in it and thought that
it might help with the glare from the sun at her first softball practice.

Next post will be all about April!!!
